Spanish

Spanish shines brightly at Stelling Minnis

At Stelling Minnis, we want our children to shine brightly across the wider world and be able to communicate through the second most spoken native language in the world: Spanish!

Language learning helps pupils broaden their understanding of the wider world while building essential skills in communication, listening and speaking.

Spanish foundations are introduced in Key Stage 1, where the focus is on developing language through songs, stories, games and simple conversations. This early exposure nurtures a love of language, sharpens listening skills and builds pupils’ confidence in speaking.

In Key Stage 2, Spanish is taught through carefully planned units that progressively develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Pupils build on their early foundations, learning to express ideas, ask questions and communicate with increasing independence and accuracy. Through Spanish, children deepen their cultural awareness, improve memory and problem-solving skills, and develop resilience and confidence—key elements of our school vision. The children even learn about the farm in Spanish too!
