Geography shines brightly at Stelling Minnis

At Stelling Minnis CE Primary School, our Geography curriculum is shaped by our abundant rural setting and our vision for every child to shine brightly as a “shining star.” Through the unique opportunities offered by our Farm School, outdoor learning programme, and use of the Minnis, pupils develop a deep understanding of the physical and human features that define their local area. Surrounded by arable land, children explore how farmers use and care for the landscape, making meaningful links between food production, land management and sustainability. Our own polytunnel supports this learning further, allowing pupils to investigate plant growth, climate, and environmental change first‑hand as part of their wider geographical enquiry.

Carefully sequenced learning helps pupils build secure knowledge of their immediate environment before extending to regional, national and global geography. Fieldwork, map skills and hands‑on investigations enable children to become curious, confident and compassionate learners.
