At Stelling Minnis we offer both ELSA and Nurture Support for children in need of emotional help.
ELSA
An ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) is an intervention that supports the emotional needs of our pupils. Our ELSA has been trained to develop and deliver individualised support programmes to meet the emotional needs of children and is supported by educational psychologists from our Local Authority who provide on-going professional supervision to help maintain high quality in the work undertaken by our ELSA, thereby helping to ensure safe practice. ELSA support is usually delivered in a 6 week block with smart targets identified.
Nurture
Although similar to ELSA, nurture support may be delivered by a range of staff in school such as the teacher or a member of our support team. Nurture may take place 1:1 or as part of a group in or out of the classroom.
