As a forest school provider, we offer regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.
Children must bring a complete change of clothes for forest school. As the weather is changeable it will be a case of assessing on the day what is appropriate. Please ensure your child brings suitable clothes to be warm and dry.
During Warm weather:
LONG sleeved top and LONG trousers AT ALL TIMES. (To protect from bites and stings). Sun hat & sun cream. CLOSED, sturdy shoes/boots. NO sandals, flip flops, open shoes. Waterproof coat.
During Cold Weather:
Sturdy shoes/boots, preferably wellies. Warm, waterproof coat with a hood. If weather is wet, waterproof trousers or salopettes (ski trousers). Hat and gloves. Long sleeved t-shirt or thermal top, Jeans/warm trousers possibly with a thermal underlayer or tights. Warm jumper/fleece, warm socks (or multiple pairs).
The ethos of Forest School means that children experience a range of seasons, in all weathers. Therefore sessions are only cancelled if the weather is considered dangerous e.g. thunder and lightning / high winds.
If the Forest School leader feels that a child is not appropriately clothed then unfortunately the child will not be able to take part. The children’s health and wellbeing is of the utmost importance and correct clothing is vital for this.
Autumn Term 2021 Forest School sessions will be on Thursdays.
